For the Apples:

  • 3 medium apples (mix of sweet and tart varieties like Honeycrisp & Granny Smith)
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tbsp coconut sugar or brown sugar
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp butter or coconut oil
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Apples

1️⃣ Wash, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges.
2️⃣ (Optional) Soak in a honey-water mixture for 10 minutes if they are too sour.
3️⃣ Pat dry before cooking.


Step 2: Make the Sweet and Sour Sauce

1️⃣ In a small bowl, whisk together honey, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, and salt.
2️⃣ Set aside.


Step 3: Cook the Apples

1️⃣ Heat butter or coconut oil in a pan over medium heat.
2️⃣ Add the sliced apples and sprinkle with coconut sugar.
3️⃣ Sauté for 3-4 minutes until slightly softened.
4️⃣ Pour the sweet and sour sauce over the apples and stir.
5️⃣ Reduce heat to low and cook for 5 more minutes.


Step 4: Serve and Enjoy

1️⃣ Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
2️⃣ Serve warm or chilled.
3️⃣ Garnish with cinnamon, crushed nuts, or fresh mint!

Notes

✔️ For extra caramelization, let the apples cook for 2-3 more minutes.
✔️ For a creamier version, stir in 1 tbsp coconut milk.
