Ingredients
For the Apples:
- 3 medium apples (mix of sweet and tart varieties like Honeycrisp & Granny Smith)
- 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tbsp coconut sugar or brown sugar
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp butter or coconut oil
- Pinch of sea salt
Instructions
1️⃣ Wash, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges.
2️⃣ (Optional) Soak in a honey-water mixture for 10 minutes if they are too sour.
3️⃣ Pat dry before cooking.
1️⃣ In a small bowl, whisk together honey, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, and salt.
2️⃣ Set aside.
1️⃣ Heat butter or coconut oil in a pan over medium heat.
2️⃣ Add the sliced apples and sprinkle with coconut sugar.
3️⃣ Sauté for 3-4 minutes until slightly softened.
4️⃣ Pour the sweet and sour sauce over the apples and stir.
5️⃣ Reduce heat to low and cook for 5 more minutes.
1️⃣ Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
2️⃣ Serve warm or chilled.
