Ingredients
  

For the Chicken
  • 2 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts Thighs can also be used for an added burst of flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Adds a mild flavor and helps achieve a golden sear.
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning Choose between store-bought or homemade.
  • Salt and pepper, to taste Ensure chicken is seasoned properly.
For the Pasta
  • 12 oz penne, fettuccine, or spaghetti Any pasta works well; penne and fettuccine are excellent choices.
  • to taste Salt, for the pasta water Enhances the flavor of pasta.
For the Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter Creates a creamy sauce.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Adds aromatic depth.
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning Heightens the flavor in the sauce.
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika Complements the Cajun spices.
  • 1 cup heavy cream Creates a velvety sauce.
  • ½ cup chicken broth Adds a savory base.
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese Deepens the flavor with umami.
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional) Adds a refreshing touch.
  • Red pepper flakes For extra heat, if desired.
  • Fresh lemon juice Brightens the dish before serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and Cajun seasoning.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the chicken and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 6-7 minutes per side.
  4. Remove the chicken and let it rest before slicing.
Cook the Pasta
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente.
  3. Reserve a cup of pasta water and then drain the pasta.
Make the Cajun Cream Sauce
  1. In the same skillet, melt the butter.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the Cajun seasoning and smoked paprika.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream and chicken broth, bringing to a simmer.
  5. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
Combine the Pasta, Chicken, and Sauce
  1. Add the cooked pasta and sliced chicken into the sauce, tossing to combine.
  2. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water until desired consistency is reached.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat on low heat, adding chicken broth or cream to restore creaminess. Adjust spice levels as preferred.
