Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey for a leaner option.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 8 oz lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. In a skillet, brown the ground beef along with the chopped onion and minced garlic. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Transfer the browned mixture into your crockpot.
  3. Add marinara sauce, beef broth, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together.
Cooking
  1. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours, allowing the flavors to tenderize.
  2. About 30 minutes before serving, stir in the broken lasagna noodles.
  3. Just before serving, mix in the ricotta cheese and half of the mozzarella cheese.
  4. Serve hot, garnished with the remaining mozzarella, grated Parmesan, and fresh basil.

Notes

For a unique flavor, try adding sautéed mushrooms or spinach. You can also add a pinch of red pepper flakes for some heat.
