Dough Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add chilled, cubed butter into the mixture and mix until crumbly.
- In another bowl, warm the milk and dissolve the yeast in it. Allow it to foam.
- Combine the yeast mixture with the dry ingredients and knead to form a dough.
- Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.
Assembling Crookies
- Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface.
- Cut into squares and place a spoonful of cookie filling in the center.
- Seal the edges securely around the filling.
- Chill the assembled crookies for about 15 minutes before baking.
Baking
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place the chilled crookies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let them cool on a wire rack for at least 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For best results, preheat the oven fully to avoid underbaking. Adjust baking time based on oven variation and crookie size.
