Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 1 pound pizza dough (homemade or store-bought) Crescent roll dough or puff pastry can also be used.
For the Fillings
  • 1-2 cups favorite proteins (e.g., pepperoni, sausage, or chicken) Cooked and crumbled sausage or grilled chicken works well.
  • 1-2 cups vegetables (e.g., onions, peppers, or spinach) Sauté vegetables until tender.
  • 1-2 cups shredded cheese (e.g., mozzarella, cheddar, or provolone) Use your favorite melting cheese.
  • 1/2 cup sauce (e.g., marinara, barbecue, or buffalo) Spread evenly over the dough.
For the Topping
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash) Brush on top of the bread before baking.
  • to taste sesame seeds, Parmesan, or Italian seasoning Optional garnish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cook any raw proteins such as sausage or ground beef, and drain excess grease.
  3. Sauté vegetables like onions, peppers, or mushrooms until tender.
Assembly
  1. Lightly flour your work surface and rolling pin, then roll out the pizza dough into a rectangular shape, about ¼-inch thick.
  2. Spread the chosen sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  3. Layer the fillings, starting with the proteins, followed by vegetables and cheese. Avoid overloading to ensure the bread seals properly.
  4. Starting from one long edge, gently roll the dough into a log, tucking in the sides as you go. Pinch the seam and ends to seal.
Baking
  1. Brush the top of the bread with the beaten egg for a golden crust and sprinkle with sesame seeds, Parmesan, or Italian seasoning if desired.
  2. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and cooked through. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
