Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteak Casserole: Easy, Cheesy Family Dinner Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb 450g lean ground beef
  • 1 green bell pepper diced
  • 1 red bell pepper diced
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 oz 115g cream cheese or 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 6-8 slices provolone or 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella
  • Optional: 1 cup sliced mushrooms

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onions and bell peppers until softened. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds more.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, pepper, and cream cheese or heavy cream. Mix until creamy and well combined.
  5. Spread beef mixture evenly into prepared dish.
  6. Top with provolone slices or sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly over the top.
  7. Bake uncovered for 15–20 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Optional: Broil for 2–3 minutes to brown the cheese lightly.
  9. Let rest 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra richness, add mushrooms or caramelized onions. Want it spicy? Stir in jalapeños or a splash of hot sauce before baking.
