  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Optional Add-Ins
  • nuts, dried fruits, chocolate chips Feel free to experiment!

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking dish with parchment paper for easy removal later.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, honey or maple syrup, milk, applesauce, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir until everything is well mixed.
  3. Fold in any optional add-ins that you desire.
  4. Pour the mixture into your prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown.
  6. Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting them into squares or rectangles.

Notes

To ensure bars don’t crumble, blend the ingredients thoroughly. For a chewier texture, use old-fashioned rolled oats. Experiment with spices like nutmeg or pumpkin spice, and try using almond extract for different flavor profiles. You can also add peanut butter for extra creaminess.
