Ingredients

  • 2 inches fresh ginger root, peeled and sliced Use fresh ginger for maximum potency.
  • 2 inches fresh turmeric root (or ½ teaspoon turmeric powder) Fresh turmeric is preferred.
  • 2 lemons, juiced Freshly squeezed for best flavor.
  • 1 orange, juiced Freshly squeezed for best flavor.
  • 1–2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for a vegan option) Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper Enhances absorption of curcumin.
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper (optional) Enhances circulation.
  • ½ cup water Adjust for desired consistency.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Wash the ginger and turmeric thoroughly to remove any dirt. Peel and slice them into small pieces for easier blending or juicing.
  2. Squeeze the juice from the lemons and orange into a bowl or directly into a blender.
Blending
  1. Add the ginger, turmeric, citrus juice, honey, black pepper, cayenne pepper (if using), and water to a high-powered blender.
  2. Blend on high for about 1–2 minutes, until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
Straining
  1. Place a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth over a bowl and pour the blended mixture through it.
  2. Use a spoon or spatula to press the pulp and extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the pulp or save it for another use, like adding to smoothies.
Storage and Serving
  1. Pour the strained liquid into small glass bottles or jars with lids.
  2. Store the shots in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Shake well before each use.
  3. Take 1–2 ounces (about a shot glass) daily for a quick immune boost.
