Ingredients

Casserole Base
  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 fat ratio preferred)
  • 1 large onion (diced)
  • 2 large bell peppers (green, red, or mixed, diced) Feel free to switch up the bell peppers for your favorite colors.
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened to room temperature)
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Cheese Topping
  • 8 oz provolone cheese (sliced) Layered over beef.
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese (shredded) For that delightful cheese pull.
Cooking Oil
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add diced onions and bell peppers to the hot oil, cooking for 5-6 minutes until they soften and start to become fragrant.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds, stirring constantly to avoid burning.
  5. Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up while it cooks. Season generously with salt and pepper. Cook for 7-8 minutes until browned with no pink remaining. Drain any excess fat if needed.
  6. Mix in Worcestershire sauce, allowing it to coat the beef mixture for enhanced flavor. Reduce heat to low, then add the softened cream cheese, stirring until creamy and well combined.
Assembly and Baking
  1. Transfer the mixture to your prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  2. Layer torn provolone pieces over the beef, followed by shredded mozzarella.
  3. Bake for 22-25 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden on top.
  4. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.

Notes

This casserole shines as a standalone dish but can be paired with a fresh green salad or roasted vegetables. For a bit of crunch, serve it alongside crispy garlic bread or coleslaw.
