  • 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 lb ground pork or turkey (optional for a blend)
  • 1 cup plain or seasoned breadcrumbs used to bind the meatloaf
  • 2 large eggs for structure and moisture
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce, divided ½ cup for the meat mixture, ½ cup for the glaze
  • ⅓ cup milk for added moisture
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped or grated for flavor and texture
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced for a savory kick
Seasonings
  • 1 tsp salt basic seasoning
  • 1 tsp pepper basic seasoning
  • 1 tsp paprika for a smoky undertone
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or parsley for herbal notes
Optional Add-Ins
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese for a cheesy center

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) for even cooking.
  2. For a Baking Sheet: Line it with parchment paper or foil. For a Loaf Pan: Lightly grease the pan with oil or non-stick spray.
  3. Combine ground beef, ground pork (if used), breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, ½ cup BBQ sauce, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Mix gently until combined, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it onto the prepared baking pan or loaf pan.
  6. Spread ¼ cup BBQ sauce on top of the meatloaf.
Cooking
  1. Bake for 45 minutes, checking the internal temperature.
  2. Spread the remaining ¼ cup BBQ sauce over the top and return to the oven for an additional 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  3. Let it rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
Serving
  1. Slice the meatloaf and serve with your favorite sides.
