  • 1 lb ground pork or turkey (optional for a blend)
  • 1 cup plain or seasoned breadcrumbs to bind the meatloaf
  • 2 large eggs for structure and moisture
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce, divided (½ cup for the meat mixture, ½ cup for the glaze)
  • ⅓ cup milk for added moisture
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped or grated for flavor and texture
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced for a savory kick
Seasonings
  • 1 teaspoon salt for basic seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon pepper for basic seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika for a smoky undertone
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme or parsley for herbal notes

  • cheese, shredded cheddar or mozzarella for a cheesy center

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil or lightly grease a loaf pan.
  3. Combine all core ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Mix gently to combine, avoiding overmixing.
  5. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in the prepared pan.
  6. Spread ¼ cup of BBQ sauce over the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 45 minutes; check internal temperature.
  2. Spread remaining ¼ cup of BBQ sauce on top and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  3. Broil for 2-3 minutes for a smoky flavor, if desired.
Serving
  1. Let the meatloaf rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
