  • 12 oz spaghetti or linguine Use your preferred pasta type
  • ½ cup fresh pesto Store-bought or homemade
  • ½ cup reserved pasta water Starchy water from cooking pasta
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese For garnish and flavor
  • Salt and pepper to taste Season as desired
For the Pesto Pasta Salad
  • 12 oz rotini or penne pasta Good for pasta salads
  • ½ cup pesto
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved For freshness
  • ½ cup fresh mozzarella balls, halved Can substitute with other cheeses
  • ¼ cup pine nuts, toasted For added crunch
  • Salt and pepper to taste Season as desired
For the Pesto Cream Sauce Pasta
  • 12 oz fettuccine Use your preferred type of pasta
  • ½ cup pesto
  • 1 cup heavy cream For creaminess
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese For richness
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust seasoning as needed
For the Grilled Vegetable Pesto Pasta
  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1 cup mixed grilled vegetables (zucchini, bell peppers, eggplant) Choose your favorites
  • ½ cup pesto
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste Season as desired

Method
 

Classic Pesto Pasta
  1. Cook the pasta until al dente, reserving ½ cup of the starchy pasta water.
  2. Toss the pasta with pesto, adding the reserved water gradually until the sauce reaches a creamy consistency.
  3. Season with salt and pepper, then garnish with Parmesan cheese.
  4. Serve warm, topped with fresh basil if desired.
Pesto Pasta Salad
  1. Cook and rinse the pasta under cold water to cool it. Toss with a drizzle of olive oil to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix the pasta with pesto, ensuring an even coating.
  3. Add cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, and pine nuts. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Pesto Cream Sauce Pasta
  1. In a saucepan, combine pesto and heavy cream over medium heat. Stir until heated through.
  2. Cook pasta to al dente, reserving ½ cup of pasta water.
  3. Toss the pasta with the creamy pesto sauce, adding reserved water to adjust consistency.
  4. Season with salt and pepper, then garnish with Parmesan before serving.
Grilled Vegetable Pesto Pasta
  1. Grill vegetables until tender and slightly charred, then cut into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Cook pasta until al dente and toss with pesto.
  3. Add the grilled vegetables and mix gently.
  4. Garnish with Parmesan and serve warm.

Notes

Pesto can be added to hot and cold pasta. For hot pasta, allow it to cool slightly before mixing to avoid a greasy texture. For cold pasta salads, rinse the pasta and allow it to chill before adding pesto for the best flavor.
