  • 1.5 pounds flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup green onions, for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, toss the flank steak with cornstarch until each piece is evenly coated.
  2. Transfer the coated steak to your slow cooker and add in the toasted sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, brown sugar, and water.
  3. Gently stir to combine all the ingredients well.
Cooking
  1. Cover the slow cooker and cook on HIGH for 2-3 hours or on LOW for 4-5 hours, until the beef becomes beautifully tender.
Serving
  1. Just before serving, stir in the green onions to add a fresh crunch.

Notes

For the best flavor, use high-quality soy sauce. You can adjust the sweetness by reducing brown sugar to suit your palate. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
