  • 1 pound ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or plant-based protein.
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1 small head green cabbage, chopped
  • 14 ounces petite diced tomatoes Canned
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes Adjust for spice preference.
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup water

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until it's slightly pink. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the diced onion and seasonings to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the onions are soft and fragrant.
  3. Move the beef and onion mixture into the slow cooker, and add the chopped cabbage.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and water. Stir well until combined.
  5. Pour the sauce over the cabbage and beef mixture; mix everything gently to incorporate.
  6. Cover the slow cooker and let it cook on low for 6 to 8 hours until the cabbage is tender.

Notes

For an elevated experience, top with sour cream or fresh parsley. Pairs well with mashed potatoes, crusty bread, or a light salad.
