  • 1 sheet store-bought puff pastry Thaw according to package instructions.
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 unit egg (for egg wash)
  • optional amount extra powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into heart shapes using a cookie cutter.
  3. In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each heart pastry.
  5. Top with sliced strawberries.
  6. Fold the edges of the heart pastry over the filling and pinch to seal.
  7. Brush the tops with egg wash.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To maintain flaky texture, freeze unbaked danishes and bake directly from frozen, adding extra baking time.
