  • 2 cups broccoli florets Feel free to substitute with green beans or asparagus.
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce Use gluten-free soy sauce or tamari for a gluten-free option.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Adjust for desired sweetness; honey can be used as an alternative.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger until well combined.
  2. Place the sliced beef into your crock pot and pour the sauce mixture over the top.
  3. Cover and cook on low heat for 5-6 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  4. About 30 minutes before you plan to serve, stir in the broccoli florets.
  5. Mix well and allow everything to cook until the broccoli becomes tender.
  6. Season with salt and pepper according to your taste and serve hot over cooked rice.

Notes

For a beautiful presentation, consider adding sesame seeds or chopped green onions. Pair with steamed dumplings or a cucumber salad for added texture and flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days or freeze for up to three months.
