Ingredients
  

Cake Layers
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour For the cake base.
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Butter, softened
  • 2 large Eggs Room temperature.
  • 1 cup Milk Room temperature.
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
Frosting and Fillings
  • 1 cup Buttercream frosting Colored with food coloring for decoration.
  • 1/2 cup Fruit preserves Options include strawberry or raspberry.
  • 1/2 cup Edible glitter For decoration.
Decorative Elements
  • 1 pkg Fondant For making the unicorn horn and ears.
  • 1 tsp Metallic paint For the unicorn horn.
  • 1 cup Sprinkles For decoration.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, alternating with milk.
  6. Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
Cooling and Assembly
  1. Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
  2. Once cool, level the tops of cakes if needed, and stack layers with frosting and fillings in between.
Decoration
  1. Create the unicorn horn with fondant, paint with metallic paint, and allow to set.
  2. Pipe colored buttercream around the edges of the cake.
  3. Decorate with edible glitter, sprinkles, and the unicorn horn and ears.
