Muddy Buddies Ingredients
  • 7 cups Chex cereal (divided) Use any flavor of Chex.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (divided) Used for coating the cereal.
  • 1 cup pink candy melts Can substitute with white chocolate colored with food coloring.
  • 1 cup red candy melts Can substitute with white chocolate colored with food coloring.
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil Used to help melt the candy smoothly.
  • 1 cup Valentine’s Day M&M’s Feel free to substitute with other colors.
  • 2-4 tablespoons Valentine’s Day sprinkles Customize with different types of sprinkles.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Divide the Chex cereal into two separate bowls.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 cup of pink candy melts with 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  3. Pour the melted pink candy over one bowl of Chex cereal. Gently fold until all pieces are evenly coated.
  4. Transfer the coated cereal to a ziplock bag, add ½ cup of powdered sugar, and shake until every piece is covered. Spread it out on a wax paper-lined baking sheet.
  5. Repeat the melting and coating process with the red candy melts using the second bowl of Chex, coating it with the remaining powdered sugar.
  6. Allow the muddy buddies to set for about 30 minutes, then gently mix in the Valentine’s Day M&M’s and sprinkles.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. Freezing is an option for longer storage.
