Ingredients
  

For Marinade
  • 1/4 cup olive oil To keep the steak moist
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced For flavor

  • 1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice To help tenderize the meat
For Cooking
  • 2 lbs chuck steak Look for a cut with good marbling
  • 1 tbsp salt To enhance the meat’s natural flavor
  • 1 tbsp black pepper For seasoning
For Braising or Slow Cooking
  • 1 cup beef broth For braising liquid
  • 1 onion onion, chopped To add flavor to the braising liquid

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Tenderize the chuck steak with a meat mallet and marinate in the mixture of olive oil, garlic, soy sauce, and vinegar for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
Grilling
  1. Preheat the grill to high heat (450°F–500°F).
  2. Season the marinated steak with salt and pepper.
  3. Grill for 4–5 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
  4. Let the steak rest for 5–10 minutes after grilling.
Braising
  1. Sear the marinated chuck steak in a hot skillet until browned on both sides.
  2. Add beef broth, chopped onions, and carrots, then cover and simmer on low heat for 2–3 hours.
  3. Serve with mashed potatoes or crusty bread.
Pan-Searing
  1. Preheat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add oil and sear the steak for 3–4 minutes on each side.
  3. Baste with melted butter during the last minute of cooking.
  4. Let it rest before slicing.
Slow Cooking
  1. Place the marinated steak in a slow cooker with onions, carrots, and cover with beef broth.
  2. Cook on low for 6–8 hours or high for 4–5 hours.
  3. Serve shredded with vegetables.
